About bodymind.space

My name is Simon Brod. Educated as an engineer, I am a business and sustainability consultant, Argentine tango dancer, poet, trainee Feldenkrais practitioner, and co-owner of the Praktijk Lijnbaansgracht centre for movement-related practices. Born in Oxford, I have made Amsterdam my home.

My sources of inspiration for bodymind.space

As a child I was not physical. My fascination with movement appeared in mid-life, triggered by (i) chronic back and shoulder pains and (ii) a growing interest in Argentine Tango dancing, which brought me up against limitations in my self. Both have been immeasurably improved by practicing body awareness.

I am lucky to have been inspired by:

  • Andra Perrin (website), who blends Eastern and Western movement philosophies into a unique, playful, practice. It was my privilege to attend Andra’s classes at the THNK School of Creative Leadership.

  • Loretta Helms (website), who introduced me to the history of movement theory and patiently nurtured my own development through her Pilates-inspired movement classes.

  • Monique Sahiboe (website), whose close attention through massage, healing and coaching techniques helped me discover my self.

  • Nicoline van der Pas (website), whose rich expertise as physiotherapist, Feldenkrais practitioner and teacher inspired me to become a practitioner myself.

  • Violet Monis (website), whose varied movement classes and infallible smile are always a joy.

I am indebted to many in the Feldenkrais community, whose books, videos and classes have been powerful influences. In particular Larry Goldfarb (website), Alfons Grubher (website) and the London 4 Feldenkrais Training faculty and students (website).
